Lindzees Crafty Bees: Bringing Bedfordale’s Sweetest Secrets to the South Perth Christmas Markets

When visitors arrive at the South Perth Christmas Markets on Sunday, 14 December, they’ll discover many treasures created by talented local makers. Among them is a small family-run business that has grown from a single backyard hive into a thriving boutique honey and skincare brand. Lindzees Crafty Bees, run by Lindsay and Rowan Emmott in the quiet hills of Bedfordale, brings a beautiful blend of authenticity, nature and craftsmanship to everything they create.

What makes their story special is how naturally it all began. One hive. One family interested in nature. One simple curiosity about bees. That modest beginning soon became a heartfelt journey that now includes 60 thriving hives dotted across the Perth Hills. Their bees travel far and wide over bushland and wildflower-rich valleys, collecting nectar that transforms into a delicious range of seasonal honeys. Each jar has its own character, shaped completely by the flowers blooming at that moment in nature’s cycle.

Among their collection, one product consistently stands out: their silky “Cream da la Cream” creamed honey. This customer favourite is blended slowly over five to seven days to develop its smooth texture—a technique that takes time but is well worth the effort. It remains one of their most recognisable products and one of their proudest achievements.

As their apiary expanded, their passion did too. With an abundance of pure beeswax and honey, Lindsay and Rowan began experimenting with small-batch skincare. What started as a simple idea grew into a beautiful natural range made with beeswax, raw honey, lemon myrtle oil and botanicals chosen for their soothing, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Everything is created gently and thoughtfully, with an emphasis on nourishing the skin using natural ingredients. Their skincare line, like their honey, is an expression of their values: quality, care and a deep respect for nature.

From Hive to Handmade

Every product begins with the bees. The honey is harvested by carefully removing capped frames from the hives, extracting the honey and filtering it lightly to keep it as natural as possible. Their beeswax is cleaned, melted and filtered, ready to become the foundation of their balms and other body products.

Their process is entirely hands-on. Each jar, each batch of skincare, each gift set is prepared and packaged by hand. This keeps their boutique approach at the heart of their business, ensuring that every product remains true to its origins.

While their journey has been full of hard work, it has also been rich with memorable moments. Winning awards for their honey has been a wonderful recognition of their commitment, but what they cherish even more are the connections they’ve built along the way.

They’ve formed strong collaborations with several local businesses that share their love of fresh, local produce and natural products. Their honey and skincare have featured in hampers from The Simple Grazer, complemented fresh produce at Willow Springs Orchard, and become part of the wellness experience at The Spine Studio. Their Heart of the Hive skincare line, stocked at The House of Honey in the Swan Valley, has been a favourite among both locals and international visitors.

These partnerships reflect the spirit of their brand: community, connection and care

A Passion That Fits Around Everyday Life

Despite their growing success, Lindzees Crafty Bees remains a side project for Lindsay and Rowan—one fuelled by passion and built around their day jobs. They spend weekends at markets, chatting with customers, sharing stories from the hive and travelling to regional towns to meet supporters old and new. The business may be part-time for now, but the dedication behind it is full-time in every way.

With sustainability at the heart of their philosophy, they keep their processes gentle and their materials eco-conscious. They choose recyclable and reusable packaging wherever possible and stay committed to maintaining healthy hives, even if that means leaving limited honey for the bees during lean seasons.

Their goal for the future is simple: to grow their business enough to dedicate themselves to it full-time. They plan to launch a website, expand their reach and continue crafting honey and skincare products that bring people closer to nature.
